Bookwire
http://www.bookwire.com/bookwire/
This is a terrific site by Bowker (USA) which acts as a portal for
numerous websites relating to books, publishing and bookselling. Includes
links to numerous journals, articles, review, websites etc. (although
it's mostly American).
Literary Market Place
http://www.literarymarketplace.com/
A useful site which lists thousands of publishers and literary agents
which have websites. While the emphasis is on North America, there are
also numerous entries for other countries, including hundreds from Australia.
National Library of Australia

Libraries outside Australia
http://www.nla.gov.au/libraries/resource/oslib.html
The National Library's main catalogue (in HTML format) is an excellent
resource for doing a quick check of bibliographic references, especially
for Australian books. And there is an extensive listing on its site for
the online catalogues of other libraries as well.
Publishing Central
http://www.publishingcentral.com/
Another US resource for the publishing industry. Plenty of useful links
for writers, publishers, editors, production managers etc.
Project Gutenberg
http://www.gutenberg.net/
An amazing volunteer-fuelled project which, since 1971, has digitised
around 5000 public domain books. These are available for free download
from the Internet. Anyone can volunteer to help too - you just have to
be a good proofreader!
